It's from Josey Hardware Co, Pioneer Hardware Dealers, specializing in Steam and Gasoline Engines, Peanut Threshers, Cotton Gins and Presses, and Mill Supplies, in Scotland Neck, N.C., dated Sept. 3rd, 1906. Text reads: "We inclose lock combination for the safe that you bought from the Mosler Safe Co. The safe is one that we traded to them for a larger one, and we consider it a good safe." A rare typewriter that used the Dvorak keyboard, an arrangement that let the strongest fingers do the most work, with 70% of the typing being done on the "home row" where the fingers are positioned with typing. Typists really could type faster with this keyboard but it was doomed because so many people already knew the QWERTY keyboard and would not learn to use the new one. This Royal, made in 1936, is owned by Carlton McDaniel.
