MURRAY COUNTY POETRY

Poems by Murray Poets and Poems About Murray County
PSALM 23
by
John Homer Luffman
1910-1987

THE LORD IS OUR SHEPHERD AND WE SHALL NOT WANT,
HE'S PROMISED OUR NEEDS TO PROVIDE
AS BY THE STILL WATERS HE LEADS US ALONG
WHERE WE IN GREEN PASTURES ABIDE.
RENEWING OUR BEINGS AND GIVING US PEACE,
ERASING THE SHADOWS THAT FALL;
A WONDERFUL COMFORT, HIS ROD AND HIS STAFF
ARE HELD AS A SHIELD OVER ALL.
SO SURELY HIS GOODNESS AND MERCY ENDURES
AND DRAWS BACK THE SHEEP STRAYED AWAY
THAT THEY MAY BE SAFELY HELD FAST IN HIS LOVE
AND DWELL WITH THE SHEPHERD SOME DAY.
