MURRAY COUNTY'S ELECTED OFFICIALS1832-1986TAX COMMISSIONERS At one time Murray County had three officers—Treasurer, Tax Receiver, and Tax Collector—which were combined into the present office of Tax Commissioner about 1936. The Treasurer received all the county money and paid bills as directed by the commissioners while the Receiver "received" statements from each taxpayer as to the value of his property.
